Best BECE candidates awarded

 Prez Akufo-Addo retells life story

Speaking at the awards ceremony which was part Ghana's 60th Independence anniversary, President Akufo Addo also touched upon his own somewhat humble beginnings.

He spoke of the turmoils his own father went through, the late and former president Mr. Edward Akufo-Addo, in ensuring that he and his siblings had a proper education.

According to the Ghana Education Service (GES), this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results were the "best so far".

President Akufo-Addo, who's spent decades in tenacious pursuit of his current ambitions, congratulated the award winners and iterated that this was a reminder that he needed to work harder for Ghana's future..

"You deserve all the commendation and recognition being accorded to you today, congratulations!"

"I am inspired and honored because I know I am looking into the eyes of Ghana's future; you remind me of the fact that as president, I must work harder to guarantee that knowledge becomes the backbone of our modern economy and prosperity. Education should be a right which all of Ghana's youth must exercise. Today's youth, running barefoot to school, could be a future leader of business, industry or government."
